Key West Sailfishing

When Captain Joe asked one of our grandsons who just turned 11 what he would like for his birthday, DJ couldn’t get the words out of his mouth fast enough…please take me Deep Sea Fishing Aboard the Triple Time! He brought along his friend Kyle and Mom and Dad and his little sister Mackenzie and his Uncle Bruce. Now here are DJ’s words.

Well, I love fishing so much that when I know I am going in the morning I wake up so early and can’t wait. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. hoping we would catch a fish. After we picked up Kyle and got the food ready we headed for the boat. When we got to the boat we loaded up we were off to fishin. On our way to the sea bouy we saw other boats catching sailfish so our hopes were high. After about half an hour of fishing BOOM FISH ON BOY!! Kyle and I fought the fish for about 45 minutes. Finally it popped up about 30 feet from the back of the boat. It turned out to be about a 150lb hammerhead shark! Then it popped the line. Then we got rigged up again and in another hour or so FISH ON. After about 5 minutes we saw a sailfish jumping behind the boat way back there. We weren’t sure if it was the sailfish because my grandpa (Capt. Joe) said he has never had a sailfish fight so hard. So, after about 25 more minutes it turned out to be the sailfish jumping. The sailfish was about 60-75lbs. Everbody fought it besides my sister and my Uncle Bruce. Later in the day we caught three more dolphin aka Mahi Mahi.
